HR BP Spring Showcase Recap

Dear HR Colleagues,

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Spring Showcase last Thursday. It was truly energizing to be together.

If you were not able to attend, here is the presentation. While we did not capture a recording, the notes reflect the full content we shared.

Our HR Blueprint Project Working Groups made strong progress during Horizon 1, laying an important foundation for what comes next in Horizon 2. Thank you to everyone who contributed their time and expertise to these efforts.

Key Highlights

Standardized Processes:
Thanks to the work of the Processes & Standards working group — and the insights of many HR subject matter experts — the Employee Support and Retire/Separate processes are now documented and standardized.  These will begin rolling out this summer with training and implementation support.

Faculty Personnel Support:
We have heard consistent feedback that HR’s role in faculty matters can be unclear. To address this, we are creating a new unit called Faculty Personnel Support, launching in January 2026. Building on the great work already happening in the Office of Faculty Affairs, this expanded team will provide dedicated, faculty-specific HR advising and services to supplement the work of Central HR.

HR Structure and Governance:
We are preparing to update the HR organizational structure across campus based on the recommendations of the Structure and Governance working group. This includes introducing standardized roles, job descriptions, and reporting lines for all HR practitioners. These changes will ensure HR professionals have clear career paths, opportunities for growth, and consistent support throughout their careers at CU Boulder.

We know that updates to organizational structure can bring uncertainty, and that many of you will wonder what this means for your role, your team, and your future. We can share that these recommendations have been brought to campus leadership, who will make final decisions. Once those decisions are confirmed, we will communicate with you as soon as possible. We expect to have more information in the coming weeks.

We closed the Spring Showcase with a live Q&A — thank you to Laura Edlin, Colisse Franklin, and Chrissy Harrison for participating, and to Kenny Nelson for emceeing. We have also shared an FAQ that includes answers to questions raised during the panel.

As we engage campus leadership and move forward with the next steps, we will keep you informed every step of the way and provide resources to help you understand what is changing and what is not. Thank you for the incredible work and dedication each of you brings to the HR community at CU Boulder.
