Get to Know Our Living Campus- Plant Walk at CU Boulder

Return to Wellness Events Page

This workshop will provide an opportunity to practice plant observational skills, learn some basic botanical lingo and keying, and get acquainted with the plants on campus that are common and widespread and easily found in many public areas of the front range and beyond. Hopefully, you will come away inspired and empowered to build relationships with the plant communities growing in your backyard, local park (or parking lot) and beyond.

Learning Outcomes

Participants will be able to:

  • Learn some basic botanical terms needed to use a botanical key
  • Identify and recognize several plants commonly found in our community and learn about their historical and present-day uses by people and other animals
  • Feel more connected to the place we live and work
  • Learn ethics and guidelines for urban/suburban foraging and wild harvesting

Who should attend?

This workshop is intended for all CU Boulder faculty or staff members who want to build a relationship with our local plants and become more attuned to the plant life in our communities. Bring your notebooks and pencils!
