EVEN Student Travel Grant Application
The Environmental Engineering Program offers partial funding for students to present research findings at meetings or conferences and/or attend leadership conferences. The goal of the travel grants is to support students in participating in regional and national conferences for research, leadership, and networking purposes. Students receiving funding through EVEN will be required to complete a Q&A about their travel experience that might be featured in an article on the EVEN website and encouraged to wear Environmental Engineering gear during their travel.
Eligibility Requirements
- The applicant must be a current CU Boulder student and EVEN major at the time of the application and the time of the conference/meeting
- The applicant must be making a presentation at the conference or be an officer in a CU student society associated with the conference
- If presenting, student must submit proof of conference/meeting presentation acceptance at the time of application
- An applicant must also apply for at least one other student-travel program for additional funding for their travel.
Guidelines
- All EVEN students are eligible: BS, Professional MS, MS Thesis, and PhD.
- Grants may be requested up to $500 for individuals and $1,500 for groups (3 or more EVEN students).
- Students may receive funds from EVEN for travel only once per year (travel commencing September 1 through August 31)
- Applications are taken on an ongoing basis until all funds are awarded
- Funded students will be required to complete a short evaluation at the completion of the conference or meeting
- Applications must be received at least one month prior to travel departure to allow for processing time.
- If awarded funds, the awardee will need to comply with University travel guidelines
Application
To apply, there is a two-step process. First, use the application on the CEAS website to apply for a matching travel grant from the Dean's office. Second, send an email with the information below to EVEN Program Coordinator Heather Mallander. In the subject line, please include "EVEN travel funds application." If submitting a group application, each student must answer these questions:
- Your name, degree program, and likely graduation date.
- Conference name, dates, and location.
- Amount requested
- Are you presenting at the conference? If so, please give the title of your presentation.
- Are you an officer in a student society associated with the conference for which you are applying? If so, what is the name of the student organization and title of your officer position?
- In 2-3 sentences, please describe your personal and professional development goals in attending this conference.
- In 2-3 sentences, please describe how you will carry your learning at the conference back to CU to benefit the larger CU Boulder community
