Olumide earned his Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology from the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, in 2019. He then completed a joint Master of Science in Quaternary, Prehistory, and Bioarchaeology from the Natural History Museum of Paris and Universität Rovira i Virgili, Spain, in 2023. Currently, he is a Ph.D. student in Archaeology with a focus on zooarchaeology under the guidance of Dr. William Taylor. His research investigates the intricate interactions between human societies and their animal environments in the past, specifically looking at the sociopolitical, cultural, dietary, and symbolic roles of animals in both pre-colonial West African and Mongolian societies. He has previously conducted fieldwork in Spain, France, Azerbaijan and Central Nigeria. He is currently collaborating with the Material History Laboratory at Northwestern University to explore the roles of horses in Ede-Ile, a military frontier of the Old Oyo Empire in southwest Nigeria.
