Thomson’s research is in cultural anthropology, with a focus on the politics of humanitarian intervention across the borders of Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her advisor was Carole McGranahan.

Marnie has accepted a position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Washington and Lee University. Thomson is excited to be at this small liberal arts college for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Dr. Marnie Thomson has accepted a tenure-track assistant professor position at Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado.
