(BA Anthropology, 2004 Washington University in St. Louis; MA Social Sciences, 2006 University of Chicago; PhD Doctor of Philosophy, 2016 University of Colorado Boulder). Thomson’s research is in cultural anthropology, with a focus on the politics of humanitarian intervention across the borders of Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Her advisor was Carole McGranahan.

Summer 2017 News
Marnie has accepted a position as Visiting Assistant Professor of Anthropology in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Washington and Lee University. Thomson is excited to be at this small liberal arts college for the 2017-2018 academic year.
