The following non-credit and credit classes may be taken to complete the responsible conduct of research (RCR) requirements for the NIH or NSF.

Non-Credit Course

A non-credit course to meet the RCR requirement is offered on the Boulder campus in the fall semester. Contact the RCR coordinator after March 15 for course details and/or to enroll in the In addition, a RCR refresher course is offered occasionally, typically in the spring semester.

Credit Courses

If students take one of the following credit courses, a grade of B or higher must be achieved to satisfy the RCR requirement. Postdocs may audit the course and request a letter of certification from the instructor.

If students or postdocs complete the course somewhere other than CU Boulder, they must submit an RCR Completion Form. Sign the original and submit it to the RCR Coordinator (campus mailbox: 99 UCB). Give a copy to your mentor/PI for the NIH- or NSF-funded award, and keep a copy for your records.

Note: Courses are not offered each semester, and ability to register or audit is subject to availability and permission of the instructor.
