November 2026 midterm election: Make a plan to vote

Whether you're voting in Colorado or your home state, here's what you need to know to prepare for the November midterm general election.

Important deadlines

  • Monday, Oct. 26 – After this date, you can still vote in person, including a statewide ballot in Boulder County even if from another county. Remember, you can return any Colorado ballot to any drop box in Colorado.
  • Tuesday, Nov. 3: Election Day! You may register to vote and vote up to and including Election Day. Vote by 7 p.m. at a Vote Center on campus. Bring valid ID (Buff OneCard accepted).
    • UMC Vote Center: Open now including Saturday hours
    • Williams Village Center: Open Monday, Nov. 2 and Tuesday, Nov. 3
    • Ballot Drop Boxes: Utilize any official ballot drop box in Colorado or the two on campus: UMC (south side of the building on Euclid) or Williams Village (bus lane)

In-state students

You may stay registered to vote in your home county or change your registration to Boulder County. Visit the Student Voting Guidelines page for more information.

If you want to remain registered at your home county address but missed the deadline to request a mail ballot be sent to you locally, you may either travel to your home county to vote in person or vote at the UMC/Williams Village using your Buff OneCard. If you choose to vote in Boulder County and do not want to change your registration to your local address, you will only have statewide races (ballot measure, governor’s race, etc.) on your ballot (Boulder County Elections cannot print a ballot that contains local races for other counties).

Out-of-state students

You have the option of voting in Boulder County or your home state (see www.vote.gov for absentee ballot deadlines in other states). To vote in Boulder County, you may register and vote in-person at the UMC or Williams Village Vote Center using your Buff OneCard. If you have an out-of-state ballot, please make sure to return your ballot in time to your home state. Check with your home county elections office for deadlines.

Students living on campus

Whether voting in Colorado or via absentee ballot from your home state, there is a specific way you must list your on-campus address in your voter registration so your ballot can find you. Visit Boulder County’s Student Voting Guidelines page for instructions or contact the elections office at vote@bouldercounty.gov or 303-413-7740 for assistance.
