Join us in celebrating the graduating class of 2023 by volunteering to help students and their families and guests during commencement events. Commencement volunteers are critical to ensuring this campus tradition is enjoyable, celebratory and smooth for everyone who will be visiting campus.

Campus is recruiting volunteers for the following roles between Thursday, May 11, and Saturday, May 13.

Students, parents, families, faculty, staff, guests and leadership cheer on 2022 graduates as they process to Folsom Field

Accessibility ambassadors

Accessibility ambassadors will support our guests needing mobility assistance by providing transport via wheelchairs between drop-off locations to seating locations.

If you’re interested in this volunteer role, sign up for an accessibility ambassador shift (or two).

Commencement procession breakfast volunteer

Breakfast volunteers will help set up, serve and celebrate with seniors for the Senior Class Council commencement procession breakfast. After the graduating class begins processing, this group of volunteers will also help with the take-down portion of the event.

If you’re interested in this volunteer role, sign up for a breakfast shift (or two).

Volunteer marshal

As a volunteer marshal, you are of support to our graduating students. Enjoy the tradition of the university commencement ceremony in a fulfilling way, helping ensure guests have a positive experience and leave campus with treasured memories.

Marshals wear regalia and a marshal stole to identify them as individuals who are able to provide assistance during the ceremony.  Visit the marshal information page for details on ordering your regalia; the deadline is March 29.

To volunteer as a marshal, fill out the marshal form.

Golf cart driver

As a golf cart volunteer, you will pick up and drive ceremony guests and students who seem lost on campus or who need assistance in moving from one location to another. A variety of shifts are available May 11–13.

Volunteers must acknowledge that they have reviewed or taken CU’s Motorized Off-Road Vehicles (Golf Cart Safety) training prior to the beginning of the volunteer shift. There will be a quick training before volunteers depart for the day that will further explain routes and pick-up/drop-off locations.

If you’re interested in this volunteer role, sign up for a golf cart driver shift (or two).

Recognition ceremony host

The role of the recognition ceremony host is to serve as a representative of the Commencement Committee at various campus venues in support of the recognition ceremony planner(s). Think of yourself as the event venue manager or host for your shift.

Select a volunteer shift based on the dates and times you are available and/or based on the college, school or department hosting the event, if you have a special connection. Volunteers will be sent information in advance regarding their role and should plan to attend a volunteer briefing meeting at the start of one’s shift.

If you are interested in this volunteer role, check out the available recognition ceremony host shifts and sign up.

Grad Bash crew (pre-commencement on May 4)
