The Colorado Buffaloes will begin their 2022 campaign with a nationally televised game on ESPN at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, as hosts against Texas Christian University.

Faculty, staff, and students should plan ahead for campus parking and commuting impacts. Below are some of the ways community members can navigate as the campus prepares for the evening event.

Academics and building access

No classes will be canceled because of the football game. All students, faculty and staff will be able to access the below buildings, which will be locked starting at 3 p.m., as long as they have Buff OneCard access. Those who do not have a Buff OneCard should work with the building manager or building proctor if they need to conduct work, research or projects after 3 p.m. in the following buildings:

  • Carlson Gymnasium
  • Duane Physics and Astrophysics
  • Benson Earth Science and Earth Sciences & Map Library
  • Porter Biosciences/Gold Biosciences Building
  • Muenzinger Psychology
  • Folsom Field and Stadium
  • Engineering Center
  • Mathematics Building and Gemmill Library

For reference, see the campus map.

Parking

In support of game day operations, entry to Main Campus parking lots will close Friday at 2 p.m. Lots 360, 378, 380, 384, 386, 390, 391, 416, and motorcycle Lots 398 and 399 will experience full day closures, and permit holders in those lots will receive a separate email detailing those closures.

Vehicles parked in all other Main Campus lots prior to the 2 p.m. closure do not need to relocate. If arriving after 2 p.m., you will be directed to park in Lot 327, the C4C parking structure, located off Regent Drive under the Center for Community building.

If you have questions, please call Parking Services at 303-735-PARK (7275), or email parkingevents@colorado.edu during business hours.

Buff Buses

The timing of buses will be affected on all routes due to game day traffic impacts.

From 3 p.m. until end of service, the Williams Village/Bear Creek and Stampede buses will run on their alternate football routes.

The Marine Street Express will see no route changes due to game day operations.

Clear bag policy and security

Like previous seasons, fans are allowed to bring items into the stadium using a clear bag only.

The bag can be a one-gallon resealable clear plastic storage bag, no larger than 12 inches by 6 inches by 12 inches. Fans are also allowed one small purse that can be no larger than 4.5 inches by 6.5 inches.

On football game days, concrete barriers are used to close Colorado Avenue at Folsom Street and 18th Avenue, as well as sidewalks around Folsom Field, to help protect pedestrians.

Show your spirit

The excitement for the first Buffs football game of the season will be palpable, with plenty of activities taking place for the whole family leading right up to kickoff.

Discounted tickets are available for faculty and staff, and student sports passes for the 2022–23 academic year are on sale now. Fans are encouraged to wear their black Buffs gear to show their “Buffs Wear Black” spirit in front of a national TV audience. Go Buffs!
