As we prepare to be COVID-19-ready for the fall semester, students will have specific requirements that must be completed before arriving on campus, including completion of a safety training course about COVID-19. This course will help ensure a safe and healthy semester on campus, in alignment with CU Boulder’s new health and safety measures

All CU Boulder undergraduate and graduate students must complete the COVID-19 Student Health and Expectations course through their Canvas account by Saturday, Aug.1.

What is the COVID-19 Student Health and Expectations course?

The COVID-19 Student Health and Expectations course will develop students’ knowledge and skills to minimize the spread of COVID-19 while at CU Boulder. This course will take 30–60 minutes and will cover a variety of topics, including:

  • An overview of COVID-19
  • Prevention strategies, including physical distancing, face coverings and hygiene
  • What to do if students get sick or may have been exposed
  • Campus expectations for all students
  • How students can care for their mental health
  • What CU Boulder is doing to address COVID-19
  • Promise to Protect our Herd community commitment
  • Campus resources

Students must complete all of the modules and pass all of the quizzes in order to successfully complete the course.

At the end of the course, students will also be required to complete the Promise to Protect our Herd. This commitment outlines expectations and behaviors to help keep our campus community and the Boulder community safe.

Registration holds will be placed on student accounts starting Saturday, Aug. 1, for students who have not successfully completed the course.

What happens if a student doesn’t complete the course in time?

If students do not complete the course by Aug. 1, a registration hold will be placed on their account.

Beginning on Saturday, Aug. 1, this hold will prevent students from adding or swapping fall classes or registering for future semesters. As a reminder, departments are continuing to adjust the fall schedule of classes to meet campus health and safety goals. Fall schedule adjustment for degree-seeking students starts Monday, Aug. 3; open enrollment starts Monday, Aug. 10.

Who does the hold apply to?

The fall 2020 registration hold applies to all term-activated students, including degree-seeking, non-degree and Continuing Education students. Students in online-only degree programs will be exempt.

How can the hold be removed?

In order to remove the hold, students will need to successfully complete the COVID-19 Student Health and Expectations course in Canvas.

Please note: Once a student has completed the course, it takes approximately two hours to process the course completion and remove the hold.
