Dec. 4: Coffee hour with UGGS

9–10 a.m.  Etai's Bakery Café
To congratulate graduate students on getting through the semester, UGGS is hosting a coffee at Etai's Bakery Café near East Campus. A limited number of $3 off coupons will distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Dec. 5: Lunch and learn for Interdisciplinary Ethics Tech Competition

Noon Engineering Center, Clark Conference Room, 109
Join Colorado Law and Silicon Flatirons for a pizza lunch to learn more about the Interdisciplinary Ethics Tech Competition, which gives students a chance to wrestle with a real-world ethics problem in collaboration with a diverse team of students studying law, business, communication, journalism, engineering, ITP, information science or computer science. The first-place team will receive a $10,000 scholarship award.

Dec. 6: Make Your Conference Work for You

Conferences are a great opportunity to make connections, find collaborators and keep up to date with the latest developments in your field. Join Career Services for a crash course in networking at academic conferences and beyond. Learn the finer points of approaching people, asking for information and making a great first impression.

Dec. 6, 13 and 14: End-of-semester write-ins

9 a.m. to noon UMC 425
Join other graduate students in this coffee-house-style setting dedicated to all graduate student writing. Use all or some of the time allotted. Drop-ins are welcome.

Dec. 17, 18  and 19: Writing retreat

8 a.m. to noon each day  UMC Aspen Room
To finish the semester strong, join other graduate students for a three-day writing retreat. Coffee, tea and breakfast provided. RSVP to leslie.blood@colorado.edu.

Fall 2018 graduates

Graduate degrees will be conferred on Dec. 20. Graduates should be sure to update their diploma name and address in MyCUinfo and review important commencement information.


Key application deadlines

Jan. 8: Chateaubriand Fellowship applications

The Chateaubriand Fellowships support outstanding doctoral students interested in conducting research in France for four to nine months in two areas:

  • Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics & Biology-Health (STEM)
  • Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS)

Jan. 11: RFP for Open Space and Mountain Parks Funded Research Program

City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks Department (OSMP) has an RFP open for scientific inquiry on OSMP lands. The maximum award amount is $10,000.
