The Academic Futures subcommittees are submitting to campus some of the compelling ideas that have emerged from combined campus input over the fall semester. These ideas arose from white papers, town hall meetings, unit-based meetings and themed discussions.

Juan Garcia Oyervides, a graduate student and the president of the United Government of Graduate Students, is asking for your feedback on a set of ideas the subcommittee on graduate student success has coalesced around. This is your opportunity to weigh in on these ideas, submitting feedback by June 1.

  • How do we improve the academic, professional and social climate for our graduate students?
  • What can we do to standardize a minimum requirement for compensation, space and resource offers for graduate students across schools and colleges?
  • What if we create educational models that better promote graduate student interactions beyond specific departments or disciplines?
  • How do we prepare graduate students for a career that may look completely different from those of their advisors?
