The Department of English is hiring a manager of finance operations who will report directly to the department chair. In this capacity, the position will provide high-level budgetary, financial, policy and administrative support to the chair of the largest arts and humanities department in the College of Arts and Sciences.
This position has primary responsibility for oversight and policy related to departmental operations, including finance and human resources. The person in this role will engage in long-range strategic projects and planning in consultation with the department chair and associate chairs in addition to supervising the business office staff. Additionally, this position provides operation and financial oversight for the Creative Writing Program.
The English department has approximately 46 tenure-track faculty members, six special faculty members (e.g., adjoint, attendant, research, instructors) and four administrative staff responsible for 600 undergraduate majors, 125 graduate students and more than 159 course offerings. The department has yearly expenditures of approximately $3 million dollars.
