Yesterday our campus faced extreme adversity that was very unsettling. Events like these impact each of us differently and no way of coping is right or wrong. Our community showed its strength and unity as we opened our arms and our homes to one another.

In uncertain times like these, it is important to stand by one another, shoulder to shoulder as we Buffs do. To anyone who has been affected by the incident, our campus has excellent resources available to deal with these types of situations including the Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) or the Office of Victim Assistance (OVA).

Know that your Student Government is here for you and is taking steps to research best practices across the nation. We are having an open brainstorming meeting in UMC 125 tomorrow, Oct. 7, at 3 p.m., about ways to improve current policies in place. All students are welcome to come.

Take care of yourself and reach out to your fellow Buffs. Together, shoulder to shoulder, we will make our campus a safer and more prepared place. Stay safe Buffs.

Sincerely,
