Over the next four weeks, CU-Boulder students can connect with industry professionals to explore post-graduation options. Meet Buff Employers, a program through Career Services, provides a relaxed, conversation-based environment for students to get to know companies and potential employers in their areas of interest.

"Our goal is to cater the career fair experience to the student body, to make it relevant to where our students are" said Enes Ozekin, marketing and communication specialist for Career Services. "It's a time for students to learn more about companies and a warm-up for more formal interviews."

Meet Buff Employers will host three industry-specific events Feb. 4, 11 and 18, followed by a panel discussion on Feb. 25. The topics, times and locations are as follows:

  • Technical Jobs, Feb. 4, 4 to 7 p.m., UMC Ballroom

    • Computer science, engineering, information systems, technology and research

  • Government Jobs, Feb. 11, 4 to 7 p.m., UMC 235

    • Local city and county, state and federal government offices

  • Careers for a Cause (co-hosted with Naropa University), Feb. 18, 4 to 7 p.m., UMC 235

    • Local and national non-profits with volunteer, internship, part-time and full-time positions

  • Marketing & Creative Media Panel, Feb. 25, 5:30 to 7 p.m., UMC 235

    • Creative and design industry representatives from social media, marketing, graphics, visual communications, web design and digital design

"Having casual conversations before you start interviewing is a great way to gain understanding and build confidence," said Kelsi Cooke, CU-Boulder alum ('11) and current Global Events Manager for SolidFire, Inc. "Never underestimate the importance of your network. People you meet in college, at other jobs, at networking events etc. may help you find your next job or even career."

SolidFire, Inc. is one of the many companies that will be present at the Meet Buff Employers events this month. All CU-Boulder students, including graduate students, are invited to attend the events, regardless of major or area of study.
