Dating back to the clubs inception in 1967, the University of Colorado Men’s Rugby Club competes at the highest level. This tradition continues with the team’s participation in D1A-West, the highest level of collegiate rugby in the United States. Recent years have seen great success with the team reaching the national quarterfinals successively in (2013 & 2014), and found itself ranked 7th in D1A at the end of the 2014 season. Adding to the team’s proud history are a National Final appearance in 1984, two Final Four appearances in 1984 & 2008, and the PAC 7’s title in 2011. The team won a plate in Vegas in 2015 and '16, and advanced to the plate final in the inaugural year of Red Bull University 7's last year. 

In the past '16-'17 season, the Buffs were one win away in both 15's and 7's from clinching a bid to the national championship playoffs, losing as time expired by one try Air Force, and Wyoming, respectively. 

Being part of a Division 1 University with many successful sports, the team reaps the benefits through access to the schools top tier athletic facilities. The University of Colorado Men’s Rugby Team practices on beautiful natural and artificial surfaces, and works out in one of the nations best recreation centers which was just renovated to the tune of $62 million. Thanks to its close proximity to USA Rugby and several of the nations best men’s teams, the team is bolstered by one of the best coaching staffs in the nation. Moving forward, Colorado plans to build on its successful foundations and remain competing to be one of the best teams in the nation.
