CU: Where are you from?

SA: Denver!

CU: What year are you? What’s your major?

SA: I just finished sophomore year and I’m working on my degree in Economics

CU: What disciplines of cycling do you participate in for the team?

SA: I do Road, Mountain, and ‘Cross for the team

CU: How long have you been riding? What category do you race in?

SA: I’ve been riding for almost 5 years and am now an A in every category for collegiate, or Cat 3 for USAC

CU: What got you into cycling?

SA: Curiosity, inspiration, friends, love of competition, and a lot of hard work

CU: What is your favorite kind of racing? What is your favorite collegiate race?

SA: Road racing and XC are my favorite kinds of racing. The CMU Short Track = so awesome.

CU: What are your cycling ambitions?

SA: To progress, have fun, and see where it takes me!

CU: Are you sponsored by an outside team? If so, who?

SA: Prestige Imports Jr/U23 Development Team

CU: What do you do besides cycling at CU? Other clubs, jobs, etc.

SA: I currently work at Whole Foods and I love to ski, snowboard, play fiddle, banjo, and guitar, cook, hike, explore, and go on adventures :)

CU: What is your favorite part about Boulder as a city?

SA: I love the atmosphere. There's so much to see, all sorts of things to do, and great places to ride! I also like how many bike paths there are, the city is so accessible and there are always people outside!

CU: Biking is a big commitment time wise, how do you balance your academics and social life with cycling?

SA: My cycling, social life, and academics all fit hand in hand. Academics are definitely a priority but I like to stay busy. Juggling my interests helps keep me organized and focused in the other aspects of my life and has especially improved my time management skills.

CU: A lot of wise, successful cyclists live by a specific mantra… Do you have one?

SA: Hup hup, buttercup!

CU: If you could have lunch with anyone, who would it be and why?

SA: This is a tough question, mainly because there are so many people who inspire me. At the moment, I think it would be pretty cool to have lunch with Evelyn Stevens because she is incredibly accomplished and she never stops smiling. Or Jens Voigt, he seems like a great guy!

CU: What's a fun fact about you?

SA: Hmm... I can solve a Rubik’s cube in about a minute! :)

CU: You would say you are a ___________ person

SA: Cow

CU: What’s your favorite music to ride to?

SA: I actually love country music but my tastes are extremely broad.

CU: What’s one thing you never ride without?

SA: Something pink! #girlpower

CU: What bikes do you currently ride?

SA: N+1? haha so probably too many... Right now I ride a Cervelo R3 (Road), Cannondale Flash 29 (MTB), Liv Envie (Prestige Imports - team bike), Cervelo P2 (TT), Ridley X-Fire (CX), and my mom's old Specialized Rockhopper for commuting :)

CU: What were some of your goals for the past season?

SA: I'd love to get my Cat 2 upgrade but before that, my main goals are to take more risks and learn to work for teammates. But I'd also like to polish up my technical skills for mountain bike season!

CU: Thanks for taking the time to talk! Anything else you want to say?
