• The magical world of Mozart puppet theater: College of Music alumna Colorado native Katie Mahan is collaborating with Colorado Public Radio on a series called “Mozart Snapshots”—taking listeners on a journey through Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s life in Salzburg, Austria. She talks with Salzburger Marionettentheater’s artistic director Philippe Brunner about the theater’s full-length opera productions using hand-carved marionettes.
• World Singing Day is Oct. 15: Join the global singalong locally at 2-3:30 p.m. on the Pearl Street Mall. See you there, Music Buffs!
• Mark your calendar for three free colloquium talks this semester: Oct. 17, Elizabeth Tolbert: “Musical Meaning and the Sociality of Musical Form”; Oct. 24, Grace Leslie: “Brain-Body Music Interfaces for Creativity, Education and Well-Being”; and Nov. 28, alumnus Chase Peeler: “Around On the Porch” (a book talk). All events will take place at 4:45-6 p.m.in the Imig Music Building, S102.
• On Oct. 19, enjoy the 2nd annual Culture Crawl! This daylong, campus-wide event celebrating CU Boulder arts and culture groups will feature activities, performances, games and shows at 14 different locations. Be sure to visit our music library to peruse the strange and glorious history of music notation! Students will have the opportunity to enter to win a prize package consisting of swag from each of the locations.
• Check out upcoming events focused on diversity, equity + inclusion at the College of Music, including these upcoming tea + equity chats for students, faculty and staff in Grusin Lobby: Join us at 4 p.m. on Oct. 20 and Oct. 26.
