This Week at the College of Music: Community Edition - March 3, 2022

Two #MusicBuffs among ‘composers and performers to watch’: Recently, The Washington Post listed “22 composers and performers to watch in 2022.” Included were two CU Boulder College of Music students: Kedrick Armstrong, a first-year master’s student in orchestral conducting and composer Anthony Green, who attended our Doctor of Musical Arts program. Be inspired by the impressive trajectory of their careers and learn how both confront issues of diversity in classical conservatory curriculum. “It’s important for schools to dig in as innovators and leaders in preparing musicians,” says Armstrong, reflecting on the College of Music’s commitment to diversity.

• Congratulations: Senior education major Sam Conner (double bass) was awarded the American String Teachers Association’s 2022 Student Exemplary Service Award and DMA candidate Dilon Bryan was invited to play Fourth Horn with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra this week!
• Rebecca Maloy, a professor of musicology and director of the Center for Medieval and Early Modern Studies, will deliver her in-person lecture “Constructing Sanctity Through Sound in Early Medieval Iberia” on March 8. • At the (virtual) annual meeting of the Music Library Association this week, Professor of Musicology Laurie Sampsel will deliver a presentation on Friday, March 4: "The West Through Sheet Music" will highlight the sheet music of Colorado composer Estelle Philleo.
