Using two randomized trials (N = 1063 Middle and High School Students; N = 1001 Undergraduates), we demonstrate that instruction that helps students to understand patterns of genetic variation within and between human ancestry groups and the multifactorial inheritance of complex traits reduces genetic essentialist beliefs about race.
