What You Can Expect from the HR Ops Team

Meet Our Team

The HR Operations (HR Ops) team is a unit embedded in the larger Human Resources Department.

As the HR Ops team, our main functions include:

  • Processing I-9s for every student employee and regular employee on the CU Boulder campus
  • In-person office support
  • Offering verification of employment services for both CU students and employees
  • Storing the personnel records for both regular employees and research faculty
  • Operating as the primary point of contact for emails, phone calls and walk-in visitors who have questions for Human Resources at CU Boulder

You can reach us by phone or email. Check out our team members and contact information on our website

What HR Ops Does

The HR Operations team:

  • Monitors and processes I-9 form completions in person for all student and regular employees
  • Processes verifications of employment that don’t fall within the capabilities of a third-party verifier (e.g. provides employment verification for visa immigration purposes)
  • Responds to records requests from employees, University departments, legal firms, law enforcement and state agencies with in-person inquiries from current and former CU Boulder Employees, retirees, students, and members of the general public
  • Receives and dispatches calls and emails to all HR units and to campus
  • Acts as reception for Faculty & Staff Assistance Program (FSAP) and Office of Institutional Equity Compliance (OIEC) walk-ins and appointments.
  • Assist new hires and affiliates in obtaining their Employee ID (EID) for Identikey Manager access
  • Assists with name changes
  • Offers notary services

What HR Ops Does Not Do

The HR Operations team doesn’t:

  • Resolve payroll issues
  • Give benefits guidance
  • Handle Public Service Loan Forgiveness applications
  • Process retirement notifications
  • Support any admissions, registrar, or financial aid processes
  • Give campus tours
  • Support employee recruitment or have insight into a prospective employee’s application status
  • Amend applicant materials (e.g., upload corrected resumes, help applicants submit new HireRight video interviews, etc.)

If you have questions related to the list above, the HR Ops team will do their best to route you to the right support, but they will not be able to service your questions or needs directly.

Our Response Commitment

Customers of HR Ops can expect a prompt response to their questions within 1-3 business days, but often they will receive a response within a few hours.

HR Ops is just one part of a larger HR Department at CU Boulder that primarily manages I-9s, employment verifications, and HR records. If your question falls within their scope of services, HR Ops will address your request promptly. If your question falls outside of their scope of services (see above), they will do their best to direct you to the person, office, or resource/materials that can help you.

HR can only help with current and former student verifications of employment.

HR Ops does not provide student and education records verification. For that, you will need to contact the Registrar’s office:
