tHRive Connections

Make Connections & Explore Roles in HR!

tHRive invites fellow HR staff to discover different roles and departments within HR while connecting with colleagues and leaders. The tHRive Connection Experience is designed to grow, develop, and align employees in our HR department, while encouraging cross-collaboration and awareness. Interested HR staff will shadow colleagues to gain knowledge and insight into varying roles and departments. The tHRive Experience will begin begin April 1, 2025, and go through June 13, 2025.

tHRive Connection Experience

The tHRive Connection Experience allows HR employees to learn about other roles within our central Human Resources Department. We have approximately 100 human resources employees, eight centers of excellence, and we provide support within our department and many other units campus-wide. The goal is for staff to learn more about our entire department and the unique jobs and responsibilities it encompasses.

  • All central HR staff are welcome to participate in tHRive’s Connection Experience
  • Individuals will be placed into pairs, which consist of two HR collaborators. Interest forms can be found in the blue box on the right-hand side of this page.

Pairs will be comprised of two HR collaborators who will engage in specific activities for a period over three months.

HR Collaborators
  • Will both take turns leading the exploration sessions (being shadowed) and also observe (shadow) the other collaborator. HR collaborators will watch and learn what the other collaborator models and shares. This will not be training for a position but rather allowing each collaborator to observe.
    • During this time HR Collaborators will share their knowledge of their positions and they will learn about the each other's role and department.
    • During exploration sessions, HR Collaborators will meet to exchange knowledge, share career goals, and ask questions.
      • Exploration sessions can be held over Zoom or MS Teams so that HR Collaborators can share their screens and observe. HR Collaborators can also meet in person, but it's not required.
      • Please be mindful of confidentiality in meetings and tasks during this program. Both collaborators are asked to please use discretion when selecting which meetings to invite their collaborator to.
Submitting an Interest Form
  • Employees can submit an interest form to be an HR Collaborator during the form submission window. After forms are collected, the tHRive committee will pair HR Collaborators and communicate with all newly formed CE pairs.
  • Submitting an interest form does not guarantee you a spot in the program. Placement will be determined by HR collaborators' availability and interest.
During the three-month timeframe, tHRive Connection pairs will be asked to complete the following items together
  • Meet and learn/teach five key tasks of each other's position.
  • Both HR Collaborators will invite the other to work meetings (at least three meetings total).*
  • Attend one key event together (a significant meeting or event specific to each collaborator's job position).
  • Connect over an in person lunch (lunch cards will be provided).
  • Reflect on the experience with a conclusion meeting towards the end of the session.

Confidentiality & Meeting Invitations: HR Collaborators should be mindful of confidentiality when inviting each other to work meetings. Pairs are asked to use discretion and be intentional when selecting which meetings to invite each other to. Also, please check with the host of any meetings to make sure the other HR Collaborator has permission to attend.
