Human Resources - Classified Staff Compensation Updates 2023
Dear classified employees and supervisors,
Each year at this time, annual adjustments to classified staff compensation are finalized by the State of Colorado. The following is information about this year’s classified staff across-the-board (ATB) increases and adjustments to the State’s classified staff compensation plan effective 7/1/2023.
FY 2023-2024 Classified Compensation Plan
The FY 2023-24 Classified Staff Compensation Plan report, pay ranges and prior year documents are now available at Pay Plans | DHR (colorado.gov).
5% Across-the-Board (ATB) Pay Increase Details
All regular (not temporary) state classified employees active as of 6/30/23 will receive a pay increase of 5% effective 7/1/2023. The increase will be base-building up to the pay range maximum and implemented in the order outlined below.
- A 5% increase will be applied to the employee’s base pay as of 6/30/23 up to the new FY23-24 range maximum.
- Individuals whose base pay reaches the range maximum without receiving the full 5% base increase will receive the difference as a one-time, non-base building payment. For example, if the 5% increase would result in a new annual salary of $50,000, but the pay range maximum is $49,000, the new annual salary would be $49,000 and the difference between $50,000 and $49,000 ($1,000) would be paid in a one-time payment with the July 2023 paycheck.
- If an individual’s salary is below the minimum of the updated FY23-24 salary range after the 5% increase, the employee’s salary will be increased to the FY23-34 pay range minimum.
- Employees will receive an email notification from HR with their new July 1 salary by the last week of July 2023.
