On Dec. 6, Human Resources-Organization & Employee Development (OED) hosted the inaugural Employee Learning Week (ELW) celebration on campus. ELW is a global campaign sponsored by the Association for Talent Development to highlight the important connection between learning and achieving organizational results. In 2010, ELW received recognition in the US Congress by Rep. Jim Moran (D-VA), who recognized ELW with a resolution that appeared in the Congressional Record. During the first week of December, organizations all over the world host learning and recognition events to celebrate employee learning.

More than 140 members of staff came together to celebrate employee learning that took place in 2018. Attendees were recognized for:

  • Receiving degrees
  • Participating in apprentice programs
  • Receiving professional certifications
  • Attending professional conferences
  • Submitting articles for publication
  • Learning new languages
  • Attending career-focused professional development courses

Participants heard stories of CU Boulder employee’s learning journeys, watched a Ted Talk by Eduardo Briceño titled “How to get better at the things you care about” and participated in a sampler of upcoming programs.

OED offers fourteen different classroom employee learning programs, and custom programs to intact teams and departments. To learn more about employee learning programs, visit the Employee Learning page.
