Listening is a Difficult (and Essential) Leadership Skill

A neuroscientist explains the difference between hearing and listening.

I frequently advise faculty members and chairs on such matters as managing conflict and giving performance feedback. One of the common denominators of these essential leadership tasks is listening. It's also one of the hardest skills to master. I came across a New York Times article by a neuroscientist, Seth Horowitz, explaining the difference between hearing and listening.
