Spring Graduation

Believe it or not, graduation is right around the corner. Follow the steps below to begin checking everything off your graduation to-do list! 

Students are eligible for graduation when they have completed all degree requirements. If you are unsure of your graduation status, please contact your advisor

Regardless of whether you plan to attend our ceremonies, you must apply to graduate via the Buff Portal. Find more information now → 

Graduates, please RSVP to ensure that the ceremony’s name caller will use the correct phonetic pronunciation of your name.

We recommend you arrive early to allow for adequate time to travel to campus parking areas and then from the parking areas to the stadium for the commencement ceremony. The gates to the stadium open at 7 a.m.

Apply for Graduation

If you plan to graduate this year, you will need to apply for graduation. Run a degree audit via your Buff Portal, and verify requirements for all degrees, majors and minors will be completed if you plan to graduate this spring. Summer graduates are encouraged to do the same.

Schedule a Meeting with your Advisor

Now that you've submitted your graduation application, schedule an appointment to meet with your advisor to confirm and review your degree requirements. You can schedule an appointment through Buff Portal Advising.

Spring Cap & Gown Info

Undergraduate students purchase regalia from the CU Book Store either in-store or online.  

If you’re graduating with your bachelor’s degree, you will wear a black gown, a black cap and a colored tassel indicating your field of study.

In addition to your traditional regalia, you may wear cords, stoles and medals to represent your communities, programs, clubs and honors at CU Boulder. Learn which options are available to you.

Update your Permanent Address

Take a few minutes to update your permanent address in your Buff Portal to ensure you receive your diploma. If you do not enter a diploma address in MyCUInfo, your diploma will be mailed to your home address. 

In addition to the standard diploma mailed to all graduates after degrees are posted, CU Boulder is proud to offer the certified electronic diploma (CeDiploma). Learn more.

Financial Obligations

Any financial obligations you have (fines, tickets, fees, etc,) must be cleared at the Bursar's Office in Regent 150. You can view and pay your bill on your Buff Portal. This will also ensure you receive your diploma in the mail on time. Learn more on the Bursar’s Office website.
