Open Enrollment is your chance to keep, waive or enroll in medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance as well as savings plans.

On Monday, April 17 all CEAS staff members were emailed a survey requesting updated information regarding individuals’ educational background. This information is critical for getting our CEAS HR records up to date and as complete as possible.

If you are a CEAS staff member and you have not already done so, please take 2-3 minutes to complete this survey as soon as possible.

Friday, June 30
The annual leave audit & certification process is coming soon. Be sure to check the maximum amount of leave you’re allowed to rollover into the next fiscal year and use your excess hours before you lose them on June 30. If you are someone who is at risk of forfeiting hours at the end of June, consider donating those hours to the CU Leave Sharing Program. FY 2023-24 funding applications open July 1
CEAS HR will start accepting applications for professional development funding in July until all the funds have been exhausted from the FY 23-24 budget. Funding of up to $500 per staff member per fiscal year is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

The college’s Staff Incentive Award recognizes classified and exempt professional staff employees’ special accomplishments or contributions to the college, such as innovative ideas, creativity and exemplary performance while undertaking special projects or tasks.

Moving forward, please send nominations via email to Monique McCloud, Assistant Dean for Organizational Development, Culture and Equity and Alisha Stewart, CEAS Sr. Director of Engineering Human Resources for review and approval with the Dean.

Tuesday, July 18
The College of Engineering & Applied Science is hosting New Staff Orientation on Tuesday, July 18. Any new staff member hired into the college since our last orientation in March 2023 is eligible to attend. New staff that started prior to March but were unable to participate in the March orientation are also eligible. This orientation is CEAS-sponsored and differs from orientations offered at the CU Boulder campus level. It is a full-day event and will take place in the Discovery Learning Center (DLC).

Watch for future communications and sign-ups as we get closer to this event. Orientations will occur on a quarterly cadence moving forward. For more information, please contact Angela Eberhardt.

James Trujillo, Coordinator of Office Operations, ChBE

James is being recognized for his outstanding work in several areas: organizing a wide array of events; coordinating activities for visitors to the department; completing financial tasks related to procurement and travel; and assisting the chair in numerous functions. But more than that, James is receiving this award because of his commitment to excellence on behalf of the department, and his willingness and enthusiasm to take on any task where he can help. 

Laramie Rose, Operational & Financial Services Program Manager, MSE

Laramie continues to be the go-to person for everything related to the MSE program. Laramie is extremely attentive to the work culture and the environment of the MSE program. When he provides a recommendation for various programmatic activities, he has always thought about the impact on the people in the program. Laramie is truly an outstanding manager of the MSE program, he works well with all stakeholders of the program from students to faculty to the leadership in MSE and in CEAS. Laramie is thoughtful, respectful, and conscious and an excellent communicator. Laramie continues to go over and beyond my expectation in providing service to the program and is always willing to step up and help if it will make an impact to the program, no matter how busy he is.

In this two-part offering, participants will explore how we hold our relationships with others and learn methods to improve our relationships inside and outside work. Part one will explore the status of the participant’s current relationships. Part two will present tools to cultivate and maintain healthier, more fulfilling relationships. Participants will also learn why relationships may suffer and how to improve them over time. We recommend having writing or drawing utensils available during the sessions.
