CU Engineering Weekly Digest - Feb. 6, 2021

Consider nominating a student who is graduating with their bachelor’s degree in May or August 2021 for a college award! We have revamped many of our award categories this year to better represent the values of the college and promote themes among the student body. Current awards include:

• Academic Engagement Award
• Community Impact Award
• Global Engagement Award
• JEDI (Justice, Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion) Award
• Perseverance Award
• Research Award
• Wellness Award
• Outstanding Undergraduate of the College Award

Please review the award criteria and submit brief initial nominations by Wednesday, Feb. 17. If the nominee wishes to be considered for a particular award, they will need to provide further materials to complete their nomination. The nominee’s major department/program will also need to endorse their nomination. Awardees will be notified by April and be announced by the college.

On-campus residents will begin moving back to campus Feb. 7-13. Volunteers are a key part in making move-in a welcoming experience for Buffs and their families. All opportunities will be organized in accordance with university and Boulder County health and safety protocols, including mandatory social distancing and face coverings, which will be provided to volunteers.

The Engineering Excellence Fund is accepting Spring Mini proposals (max $3,000) for projects that promote excellence and innovation in engineering education at CU Boulder. Please see the RFP for details.

The AB Nexus is requesting seed grant proposals that expand and strengthen areas of research collaboration between the CU Anschutz and CU Boulder campuses. By integrating expertise in various fields, AB Nexus aims to create high-impact opportunities to improve human well-being, demonstrate thought leadership and innovation, and spur economic development.

The notice of intent deadline is March 5, with full applications due April 2. AB Nexus will also host a spring research blitz on Feb. 18 from 9-11 a.m.

As part of The Power of Community Initiative, the Leeds MBA Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee invites faculty and staff from across campus to participate in a racial equity habit-building challenge during Black History Month.
