Surveys of two-year college mathematics faculty

We're conducting a research study of mathematics faculty, in order to better understand teaching in college math courses and to strengthen teaching through professional development. The education research literature is especially skimpy on studies that focus on two-year college (2YC) instructors, so we'd like your help! Please take a moment to tell us about your own teaching work and your professional path.

The survey asks about your career and your involvement in teaching-focused professional development. The survey also asks about the classes you teach, your teaching style, and your academic and scholarly activities. All the information you give us is confidential.  We'll send you a $25 online gift certificate if you finish the survey and provide your contact info.

Instructions

The survey is designed for people who typically teach two courses or more per academic term.

Please choose the version of the survey (below) that best fits your current professional experience at one or more 2YCs, as an early-career or experienced 2YC instructor. Because the broader study includes instructors at a wide range of higher education institutions, some of the questions may not apply to you, and that is fine— just choose the response that best fits your own situation.

Early-career faculty have 5 years or less of teaching experience at a two-year college. Take the survey for early-career faculty here.

Early-career

Experienced faculty have over 5 years of teaching experience at a two-year college. Take the survey for experienced faculty here.

Project Launchpad is a collaboration of researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder with professional developers at the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges (AMATYC) and at the Mathematical Association of America (MAA). This study is supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation under award DUE-1821704. The study is approved by CU Boulder's Institutional Review Board (protocol 18-0363).
