Ethnography & Evaluation Research (E&ER) conducts research and evaluation on a variety of significant issues in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education, primarily in higher education. Our main research areas include

equity and inclusion in STEM higher education and careers

• representation and inclusion of minority groups in STEM disciplines

undergraduate education in STEM

• student-centered education in the STEM fields
• student and faculty outcomes from engagement in undergraduate research (UR)
• student pathways through higher education and into careers

graduate and professional preparation of STEM educators and researchers

• graduate education and career development of graduate students
• professional development of faculty, scientists, and K-12 science teachers, and how that leads (or not) to change in teaching

informal learning and science outreach

• out-of-school-time science learning
• outreach by scientists and in universities.
