Transferring Courses from Other Institutions for Credit in the Economics Major

The evaluation of transfer credits is time-consuming and difficult. In order to ensure that this evaluation takes place promptly and efficiently, the following guidelines must be understood and their associated procedures must be followed.

Guidelines

  1. For courses taken at other institutions subsequent to enrollment at the University of Colorado Boulder
    A. Requests for transfer credit to fulfill our requirements in Principles of Microeconomics (Economics 2010), Principles of Macroeconomics (Economics 2020), Intermediate Microeconomics (Economics 3070) and Introduction to Statistics (Economics 3818): PDF 1A
    B. Requests for transfer credit to fulfill our requirements in Math Tools for Economists I (Economics 1078), Math Tools for Economists II (Economics 1088) and Intermediate Macroeconomics (Economics 3080): PDF 1B
    C. Requests for transfer credit to fulfill our requirements in Introduction to Econometrics (Economics 4818), Applied Econometrics (Economics 4848) and Financial Econometrics (Economics 4858): PDF 1C

Procedures

  1. All requests for transfer credit should be made via email to the Director of Undergraduate Studies, and copied to the student's advisor.
  2. All requests for transfer credit should be accompanied by electronic copies of the university's transfer evaluation, displaying the number of credit hours approved for transfer.
  3. All requests for transfer credit should be accompanied by electronic copies of the transcript displaying the grades received for the courses under consideration.
  4. All requests for transfer credit should be accompanied by electronic copies of the syllabi for the courses under consideration.
  5. All requests for transfer credit should be accompanied by narrative descriptions of the reasons why the courses under consideration fulfill the requirements described in "Guidelines" above. This description should include detailed references to the locations in the accompanying documents that demonstrate course compliance with those guidelines.
  6. Requests for transfer credit that do not conform to these procedures will not receive responses.
