Economics Commencement Information
Spring 2026 Information
Dear Graduating Students,
Students who have applied for graduation in either May or August of 2026, their family, and guests are cordially invited to a ceremony honoring the May and August 2026 graduates of the Department of Economics. This department recognition ceremony will be held in the Saturday, May 2, 2026, Doors Open at 4 p.m., Ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Rec Center (REC) Upper Gymnasium. (Information on the CU university-wide ceremony). There will be a reception following the ceremony.
Please read this carefully for all relevant information.
Tickets are not required for this event.
Graduates: please do not arrive any later than 4:15 p.m. Because this is an academic ceremony, academic regalia is required and can be purchased in the University Book Store in the weeks leading up to the event.
Doors open at 4 p.m. for guests.
Graduates should arrive between 4 p.m. and 4:15 p.m. Staff will assist during this time to help graduates be seated in the correct area of the auditorium.
The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:30 p.m. The ceremony will last approximately 1.5 hours and it is expected that graduates remain for the duration and that family stay seated when possible.
Honors graduates: for those of you who completed an honors thesis, you will be recognized as part of the ceremony.
Professional photographs will be taken by GradImages before and after you walk across the stage. There is a discount coupon for photographs for preregistration.

What to expect when you arrive at the Rec Center.
1. Please arrive between 4:00 and 4:15 p.m.
2. There is no area to keep purses or valuables, so please leave those with your guests prior to entering the Rec Center.
3. A table with staff members will be located outside the main gym. Please stop at the table to pick up and fill out a Reader Card prior to entering the gyn. This card is what you will hand to the faculty card readers just before you walk across the stage. Be careful to write legibly. If you have a difficult name to pronounce, please phonetically spell your name exactly how it sounds to assist the faculty card reader. Here is an example of how to phonetically spell your name:
Leslie Costanzo: cō stan zō
Raul Gonzalez: rah-OOL gon-SAH-les
Ngoc Nguyen: nahk nuhWEN or sounds like “knock” “WIN”
ASL can be made available to guests with hearing impairments upon request. To ensure we can arrange for and effectively implement services, the Rec Center requires a minimum of 7 day advanced notice prior to the event, which can be sent to theCommencement Office. We will make all reasonable efforts to secure requests submitted after this deadline, but cannot guarantee we will be able to do so.
