Research

We are also involved in the taxonomy and systematics of freshwater diatoms, including gomphonemoid diatoms, Frustulia and its allies, Kobayasiella, Eunotia and Brachysira, as well asRhoicosphenia and Stauroneis. Florisitic projects include areas of India, China, and Brasil, as well as Glacier National Park, western lakes, California, and Grand Mesa, Colorado. Ecological research is based on the diatoms of the southern California Bight.
