CU Book Access

NEW! CU Book Access (Undergraduates Only)

CU Book Access, CU Boulder’s equitable access course materials program, provides degree-seeking undergraduate students access to their required course materials before the first day of class for a one-time, flat-rate price per semester, every fall and spring.

Materials in this program are provided in a digital-first format on or before the first day of class in Canvas, CU Boulder’s online learning platform. Should a particular class require print materials, students will receive an email letting them know they have a pickup at the CU Book Store.

The charge (“CU Book Access”) is automatically added to the first university bill of the semester. The charge is billed at that time, but students have until the course drop deadline to opt out of the program and the charge would then be reversed. This gives students the maximum amount of time to make choices about their course schedule.

Learn more about how the program works, its benefits, and find answers to frequently asked questions on the CU Book Store website. For information on how to access materials or opt out, see the program FAQ’s.

  Are you receiving financial aid?

If so, you may need to authorize your aid so it can pay toward all charges on your bill including CU Book Access or other book store charges. If it's needed, it will show up as a to-do item in Buff Portal on your Financial Aid card. If you don’t have the to-do or it’s already completed, then you’re all set!

Day 1 Digital Access

If a student chooses to opt out of the CU Book Access program, they will be able to select which digital materials they wish to purchase on a material-by-material basis from the CU Book Store. Similar to CU Book Access, Day 1 Digital Access Course Materials are instantly accessible on the first day of class in Canvas. The charge (“Day 1 Digital CRS Materials”) is automatically added to the university bill. Learn more about Day 1 Digital Access on the CU Book Store’s website.

If you receive a refund (from financial aid or for other reasons), please know that we cannot hold refunds in anticipation of future charges. Charges may come on the bill after you receive a refund and you are responsible for paying the additional charges.

Other Textbook and School Supply Purchases

You can apply up to $1,500 in CU Book Store charges per semester to your tuition and fee bill during the fall, spring and summer terms. Visit the CU Book Store for more information.
