Being a student can feel really stressful, especially during the pandemic. Students have to balance the challenges of mostly-remote and online learning while sometimes experiencing feelings of isolation and loss.

It’s not easy. However, cutting-edge research in neuroscience suggests that people can improve their health, stress levels and even academic performance by reflecting on and making positive changes to their daily routines. Incorporating self-compassion into one’s day can improve wellbeing and a reasonable school/work/life balance, especially during times of stress and transition.

Take some time to hear from CU Boulder neuroscience students and reflect on whether their suggestions for examining your routine (or setting one for the first time!), taking time for wellness and giving yourself the gift of compassion are things you want to incorporate into your day-to-day life.
