Be Well banner with the definition of wellness: the state of being in good health, especially as an actively pursued goal.

Why does wellness matter? Good health and wellness—or overall wellbeing—are critical during the college years and beyond. Incorporating eight dimensions of wellness—emotional, environmental, financial, intellectual, occupational, physical, social, spiritual—improves morale, increases productivity and yields the ability to thrive.

Eight Dimensions of Wellness: Definitions and Resources

Emotional or mental wellness means coping effectively with life and creating satisfying relationships.

Environmental wellness means good health by occupying pleasant, stimulating environments that support well-being.
