Traveling to Madrid, Spain
To be able to spend a semester in one of the most beautiful cities in the world is, to say the least, a dream come true. The weight of financial stress looms over me daily, as I live in an expensive town attending an amazing university. I never thought I would get the opportunity to go abroad, but with the help of scholarships from CU Education Abroad and donors, I can embark on this adventure! I feel so grateful to be able to learn, change, and grow in Madrid this Fall. I will be immersed in the language I grew up hearing from my mother, but in a new culture where I can meet new people and gain skills that will stay with me forever. Financial aid will make an immense impact on my time abroad, allowing me to focus deeper on the vivacious city of Madrid.

I am incredibly grateful to the generous donors of the Roaming Buffs and Education Abroad scholarships for making my upcoming study abroad possible. Not only will thesetwo scholarships go a long way in helping me afford my travel and living fees, it takes a lot of stress off my parents in helping me pay for my semester abroad. Some things I intend to accomplish while going to school in Korea include: continuing my major core classes and staying on track to graduate on time, create new connections and expand my network, and to fully immerse myself in Korean culture and academic life at Korea University. I intend to send in pictures showing my experiences in Korea. Again thank you for the scholarships.

The Roaming Buffs scholarship is an instrumental factor in making this experience come to life. I am eager to immerse myself in Portuguese culture during my time abroad. Learning diverse perspectives and international business practices will further enhance my career opportunities as a business major at the Leeds School of Business. With this scholarship, this experience is financially achievable, allowing me to display the upstanding qualities that are inherent to being a CU Buff abroad.

Being able to study abroad has been a dream of mine since I was a child, and I am incredibly excited and grateful that the Buffs Roam Scholarship will allow me to deepen my knowledge of international affairs and gain a better understanding of different political systems and how they impact societies across Europe. Recently, I have become particularly interested in the role Foreign Service Officers play, and it is a career path that I am strongly considering pursuing in the future. Going abroad and receiving this scholarship will provide me with the opportunity to experience different cultures and perspectives firsthand, broaden my worldview, and develop skills that will benefit both my academic and professional goals. I am excited to take advantage of this incredible opportunity while creating lifelong memories along the way.

Traveling to Edinburgh, Scotland
Receiving this scholarship relieves such a huge financial burden from my shoulders. It is no easy task to afford studying abroad, but this gift has seriously lifted the weight of undertaking multiple jobs this summer in order to pay for tuition and housing. As someone who works while going to school part time, knowing that I can focus more on studies than putting in extra hours is an enormous privilege. Thank you to everyone who made this possible for me. I will never forget this gift or the adventure I was able to experience because of it.

I would like to formally thank you all for funding this amazing opportunity and journey I am partaking in. This journey is going to be a scary one as I am a first-generation student from a low-income family, so cost is a huge decider for many decisions. Additionally, since costs are so high, I wasn’t able to live on campus and had to commute from my parents’ house. To be able to receive this scholarship will not only make me less worried about the cost but also allow me to be independent as I will be living on my own, nonetheless in a different country. This will be an astonishing experience for me to learn and grow as a student and a person and it is thanks to you. Thank you so much for helping me fund my endeavors and I hope to represent CU Boulder well! SKO Buffs!
