Whether you’re a Forever Buff or just a history buff, the Heritage Center is a unique spot for your next event. Located on the top floor of Old Main — CU Boulder’s first and oldest building — the museum is an elegant option for receptions, meetings, parties and more.

At your event, guests can enjoy the museum’s collection of over 25,000 photographs, books, artifacts and textiles, as well as popular exhibits including a LEGO model of campus featuring one million bricks.

Due to the shape and layout of the museum, the space is best used as a buffet-style reception and mingling area, rather than a place to speak to a large group. For example, groups often hold events in the Chapel on the first floor of Old Main, then come up to the Heritage Center for a reception.

You must hire a professional caterer for Heritage Center events with food. See our list of preferred caterers below. You are also responsible for securing your caterer’s parking access on campus

The center has several rectangular serving tables available for your use but does not provide linens or other food/catering supplies. Any delivery of alcoholic beverages, rental equipment, china, etc. must be coordinated with Heritage Center staff.

Alcoholic Beverages

Because the Heritage Center does not have a liquor license, all events serving alcohol must be by invitation only (not open to the public). An event manager must be present to monitor the alcoholic beverage service area. Red wine and red beverages are not permitted at the Heritage Center.

All non-university groups must obtain a Liquor Liability Insurance form from their insurance company and return a copy (do not send originals) to the Heritage Center. You may obtain insurance through your homeowner’s insurance policy, through the university's special event one-time insurance coverage or through your caterer.

University groups must follow campus guidelines regarding alcohol at events.

Metered parking is available all day on University Avenue east of Broadway, as well as near the Recreation Center and along Pleasant Street after 5 p.m. Please coordinate parking and street access for your caterer through the university’s Parking Services department.
