Teaching Portfolio

The teaching portfolio is increasingly recognized by faculty hiring committees as a valuable means of assessing faculty candidates. The reflective process of creating such a portfolio is also an exceptionally useful way to refine and improve one's own teaching.

The Graduate Teacher Program at the University of Colorado at Boulder offers both introductory and continuing sessions to help graduate instructors plan and complete their teaching portfolios.

Workshops are designed to provide a comprehensive introduction to the creation of a teaching portfolio for graduate instructors. Topics covered include:

  • what a teaching portfolio is
  • purpose and benefits of a teaching portfolio
  • what to include in your teaching portfolio
  • a review of sample teaching portfolios

This workshop is offered every year in August as part of the GTP's Fall Intensive. At present it is also being repeated several weeks into the fall semester and at the beginning of the spring semester. It is also possible to arrange for this workshop to be given to interested departments at other times during the academic year.
