Site visits are a chance to experience the academic culture of other institutions in COPFFN. Graduate students, undergraduate students or postdocs interested in gaining exposure to a different type of faculty and campus environment, especially those applying to be COPFFN Fellows or Provost's Fellows, are encouraged to join a site visit. Each individual will be matched with a faculty mentor on the host campus for lunch and a departmental visit. Your commitment to a site visit is taken very seriously. Arranging faculty contacts at the host institution is time intensive and faculty have to rearrange their schedules to accommodate your personally. Once you commit to go on a site visit and meet with a faculty mentor, your attendance is mandatory.
GTP hosts two site visits a year, once in the fall and once in the spring.
This is an exciting opportunity to experience another campus on the Front Range. The participants on this site visit will be able to talk with faculty and find out what it is like teaching and being a faculty member at Colorado School of Mines, Golden.
Graduate student participants from all campuses must submit a CV by Monday, March 13, 2017. They will then be matched with a faculty member from their discipline at Mines. Participants will take a campus tour, meet faculty, visit the department, and/or visit a classroom.
Attendance is limited to 12 CU Boulder graduate students. Site visit reservations will be allotted on a first-come, first-served basis.
Please note: Because the School of Mines staff will be putting forth a substantial effort to pair participants with Mines faculty members, participants must make a firm commitment to attend (i.e., no dropping out), so please think seriously about this before applying. Please view the site visit as a chance to learn about Mines and as practice for future job interviews. Those who are selected and fail to attend or drop out may become ineligible to participate in future site visits.
To reserve your place on the site visit, please complete this online application with your name, email, & upload a pdf of your CV.
Submit by Monday, March 13, 2017.
We will drive to Golden in a rented van. Please respond in this application if you want to ride with us. At CU Boulder, site visits count toward the site visit requirement for the Professional Development Certificate for Preparing Future Faculty. Graduate students (RAs, TAs, and GTPIs) are welcome to submit their requests for a reservation.
