Major and Minor Requirements

The interdisciplinary Women and Gender Studies undergraduate major and minor options offer students a rigorous but flexible program of study that examines women, gender, and sexuality in relation to race, class, ability, nation and empire, among other variables. Students explore how gender and sexuality intersect with structures of power in a range of cultural, historical and geopolitical contexts.

The department offers a major with two concentration options (Women and Gender Studies or Queer and Trans Studies) as well as two minor options (Women and Gender Studies and Queer and Trans Studies).

The Department of Women and Gender Studies offers two undergraduate major concentration areas culminating in the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Women and Gender Studies. Students choose to pursue either the women and gender studies concentration or the queer and trans studies concentration.

The Department of Women and Gender Studies offers two undergraduate minors; Women and Gender Studies and Queer and Trans Studies. Our new minor in queer and trans studies interweaves complex theories and analysis into the study of sexuality and gender, with particular focus on intersections with race, ethnicity, class and ability.
