Review your transfer credit evaluation and be ready to discuss it with your academic advisor.

  • Learn how your coursework will transfer to CU Boulder by using your IdentiKey and password to log into Buff Portal.

    • Search for 'Transfer Credit Evaluation'
    • Select 'View Your Transfer Credits'
    • Select the 'Transfer Evaluation' tab in the top left corner  
  • Learn how to read your transfer credit evaluation by referring to the Verify Your Transfer Credit website.  

  • If your transfer credit evaluation is missing coursework make sure to have your official transcript(s) with final grades from every college/university you have attended mailed to the Office of Admissions or emailed to transcripts@colorado.edu

  • If applicable remember to send your Joint Service Transcript (JST) and proficiency exam score reports from the testing agency. This includes Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), College-Level Examination Program (CLEP), and DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST). Learn how your proficiency exams will transfer to CU Boulder by referring to the Credit by Examination page in the undergraduate catalog.  

  • Pay attention to the transfer information flags (iflags) on the right hand side of your transfer credit evaluation. These may indicate the applicability of your transfer credit towards degree requirements, if your coursework still needs to be reviewed (indicated with the NR transfer information flag), or if action is required of you.

  • Note the information flags which require you to take action:

    • CD (course description needed for Core/Gen Ed review)
    • ESY (syllabus needed for Education major requirement review)
    • PR (portfolio needed for review)
    • SY (syllabus needed for Core review)
    • SYD (syllabus needed for Diversity Gen Ed review)
    • 8SY (syllabus need for Gen Ed review) 
  • If your evaluation contains a target course of "NEED SYLLABUS, CRSE DESCRPTN," or if the transfer information flag indicates student action is needed follow these steps:

    • For review of courses with Arts and Sciences content (anthropology, studio art and art history, astrophysical and planetary science, atmospheric and oceanic sciences, biological sciences, chemistry and biochemistry, classics, cultural and language studies, dance, English writing and literature, economics, environmental studies, ethnic studies, film, foreign language, gender studies, geography, geology, history, humanities, international affairs, mathematics and applied mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology and neuroscience, religious studies, sociology, speech and hearing sciences, or theater), submit the Transfer Credit Review Request.
    • To have engineering and computer science transfer coursework evaluated submit the CEAS Transfer Credit Review Form.

    • To have environmental design transfer coursework evaluated submit the ENVD Transfer Course Evaluation

    • For all other coursework, please submit the requested course description(s) and/or syllabus to TCHelp@colorado.edu.

  • To learn how your coursework may apply towards degree requirements log Buff Portal.

    • On the registration checklist card, select ‘Run a degree audit’
    • Select ‘Continue’
    • Select ‘Run Declared Programs’
    • Select ‘Run’ and wait for the system to process your audit
    • Select ‘View Audit’ to access the degree audi
  • Refer to Check Your Degree Progress to learn about the degree audit

  • If you were admitted to the Program in Exploratory Studies (PES) or would like to learn how your transfer credit may apply towards a different degree follow the following steps to run a degree audit:

    • Click ‘Run Different Program’
    • From the four drop-down menus:
      • Select college, program, or school of interestSelect degree of interest (ex. BA, BS, BFA, BEV)
      • Select program (major) or interest
      • Select the current catalog year
      • Click the ‘Run Different Program’ button
  • Transfer students who have accepted their admission and paid the confirmation deposit will be assigned a departmental academic advisor following matriculation. Consult your assigned academic advisor if you have questions about the applicability of your transfer credit towards your declared major, minor, or certificate. In preparation for that discussion you may consider gathering the syllabus for each course in question. You can schedule an appointment with your assigned academic advisor in Buff Portal Advising.”

  • Review the CU Boulder Transfer Credit Policy

  • If you have not received an official transfer credit evaluation, Transferology can help you assess which of your credits will transfer, how those courses may apply to your desired major and can help you pick transferable courses to take at another school.
