The Inclusion, Diversity and Excellence in Academics (IDEA) Council, the campus body charged with prioritizing the goals of the IDEA Plan, will hold its fall public forum on Oct. 27 at the Recreation Center’s Large Ice Rink Overlook Room.
The forum will take place from 1 to 2:15 p.m. in person and via Zoom. All students, staff and faculty are invited to attend but must register via this link.

During the past two years, council members have focused on prioritizing recommendations in support of the recruitment, retention and success of students, staff and faculty from minoritized and historically underrepresented groups.
The council held its first public forum on May 23, meeting with students, staff, faculty and campus leaders to provide an overview of its mission and work to date. At the upcoming fall public forum, IDEA Council members plan to touch on IDEA Plan recommendations for supporting staff, faculty and other university employees, with retention as a focus. As evidenced by the results of the 2021 Campus Culture Survey, employees’ sense of belonging, retention and other experiences hinge on their relationships with supervisors.
During the 2021–22 academic year, council members met with staff and student leaders to gauge their views on how the university administration should better support diversity, equity and inclusion priorities across campus. Based on the feedback provided, the council shared with spring forum attendees what they deem to be the university’s highest priorities to support undergraduate and graduate student success.
Council members, who represent schools, colleges and administrative departments across campus, convened for the first time in late 2020 and have issued recommendations on a variety of initiatives based on the IDEA Plan to promote greater diversity, equity and inclusion at CU Boulder. Senior Vice Chancellor for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Sonia DeLuca Fernández, is the council’s executive sponsor.
