Faculty/Staff Edition - March 9, 2017

Paulette Erickson-England, a licensed clinical social worker, has been named the new director of the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program (FSAP), which is dedicated to serving the emotional and psychological needs of the campus community.

The Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance (OIEC) has launched a new website for learning more about support services, reporting options and skills for addressing harassment, discriminatory actions, unwanted sexual behavior, abusive relationships and stalking.

On Feb. 26, Department of Human Resources employees Chrissy Harrison and Kenny Nelson received awards for transformative HR work and emerging leadership in higher education from the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR).

In late January, the Colorado Supreme Court ruled that law enforcement officers cannot return marijuana that has been seized during the course of law enforcement duties, including both recreational and medical marijuana.

As the Baseline Road Underpass Project nears completion, three overnight closures of Baseline Road and other temporary travel impacts have been planned for March 9 through 12 and March 17 through 19. Commuters should allow for extra travel time and may wish to consider alternate routes.

On March 21, visiting artist and Alaska native Sonya Kelliher-Combs will give a lecture on her mixed-media paintings and sculptures as part of the Visiting Artist Program.

On behalf of a thoughtful 4th grader, the CU Boulder School of Education is hosting a book drive for neighboring school, University Hill Elementary. Please help support our friend Alana Valladares’ cause by donating your new or gently used children’s books in Spanish or English by March 17.

The Program in Jewish Studies is pleased to welcome Professor Matt Goldish as the 2017 annual Sondra and Howard Bender Visiting Scholar. Goldish's public lecture will take place March 16 at Old Main.

On March 10, Professor Menachem Elimelech will give the 2017 AEESP Distinguished Lecture at CU Boulder titled "The Global Challenge for Water Supply: Is Seawater Desalination a Sustainable Solution?"
