Thousands of students will arrive as move-in and Fall Welcome events begin Aug. 20. I want to thank faculty and staff in advance for their help, patience, sacrifice and volunteerism during such a busy and important time.

The process of defining our goals and aspirations for the College of Arts and Sciences will be extensive and dynamic, including engagement and input among all key constituencies.

The interim appointment of Jim White as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences provides a key opportunity for our community to explore the goals, vision and roadmap for the future of the college and our university.

I am asking the campus to take a collaborative and integrated approach as we work to break down silos and ensure good training related to the university’s response to sexual assault and intimate partner abuse.

Vice Chancellor for Infrastructure and Safety David Kang discusses the new visioning process that will help the university take a holistic approach to each building or renovation project.

During the past several years, I have been committed to addressing issues of sexual misconduct at CU Boulder. Over the past six months and especially the past two weeks, I have spent serious time reflecting on my erroneous interpretation of our sexual misconduct policy as it applied to allegations of domestic abuse by one of our former coaches.

We exist to assist departments and units across campus in employing a strategic, systematic and comprehensive approach to resource planning, data analysis and fiscal management.

I accept my responsibility to uphold the University of Colorado's standards. I will return to the campus completely dedicated to our mission. We will reform policies, provide better training and raise awareness.

I take full responsibility for my actions; I am fully committed to being part of the solutions that the campus will implement over the coming weeks and months.

In the football program, I stress to our student-athletes and our coaching staff the importance of values, integrity and accountability. I accept the actions announced today by President Benson.
