Summary
Join the campus communications team. Supporting the university and its community, our office offers an exciting, creative environment with an opportunity to gain real-world experience in audience engagement through the planning and production of compelling content. Under the direction of the student news manager and in close collaboration with the social media and media relations teams, contribute your skills in helping advance the CU Boulder student experience via strategic communications.
Responsibilities
Assist in brainstorming and curation, gathering and developing stories and series.
Report and edit multimedia articles and packages in digital formats (including branded video) for web and social media platforms.
This may include but is not limited to playing a role in the execution of the weekly CU in 60 series, as well as work on other projects related to the CU Boulder Today publication, departmental social media channels and other products.
Research and fact-check information for a variety of editorial and production needs (i.e academic rankings).
Other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate will have skills/experience with:
News judgment.
Editorial discretion.
Storyboarding and drafts/rough cuts.
Reporting and interviewing.
Video equipment: Lav mic, ring light, iPhone camera.
Video filming and editing: Framing, narration, voiceovers, graphics, editing software (Adobe Premiere a plus) and templates.
News and social media writing.
Photo and graphics curation.
Associated Press style.
Expectations
Attend content calendar/coordination meetings.
Provide drafts and participate in collaborative review sessions, acting on feedback and requests.
Deliver on frequent and tight deadlines.
