Waleed Abdalati to testify July 16 at congressional hearing

Waleed Abdalati, a professor of geography and director of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at CU Boulder, is scheduled to testify on July 16 at 8:00 AM MT before the Environment Subcommittee of the U.S. House Science, Space and Technology Committee. 

CIRES is the oldest and largest of the national network of Cooperative Institutes at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). 

The hearing, titled “Protecting Lives and Property: Harnessing Innovative Technologies to Enhance Weather Forecasting,” will examine emerging technologies for weather data collection. It will discuss how using diverse data sources can greatly improve the accuracy and timeliness of weather forecasting.
