ClassroomFaculty and staff can be instrumental when it comes to helping students figure out what to do after college. As a partner to faculty and staff in supporting students with their future endeavors, Career Services is excited to launch a new way to incorporate career development content into existing Canvas courses.

The Career Readiness Course consists of eight Canvas modules that can be imported directly into existing Canvas shells. This is an easy way for faculty and staff to share career tips, information and resources with students—regardless of major or program.

Incorporating career content in the classroom

According to the 2021 CU Boulder Senior Exit Survey, 75% of students plan to begin working (48%) or seeking employment (27%) immediately after graduation.

The Career Readiness Course modules provide foundational content that students need as they consider life after college. The content helps students explore

  • Jobs or careers they could pursue
  • Experience and skills they could gain while they’re a student at CU Boulder
  • Job searching and how to navigate it successfully

As a faculty or staff member, incorporating career and professional development Canvas modules into your Canvas courses can help your students prepare for their next steps after college.

Exploring all aspects of career development

Module topics in the Career Readiness Course include

  • Job Search
  • Applications: Resumes and Cover Letters
  • Career and Major Exploration
  • Handshake and LinkedIn Profiles
  • Interviewing
  • Networking
  • MySkills
  • Professional Experiences

All modules include written content, videos, a glossary of career terms and activities for students to complete. Review learning outcomes and activities for each module.
