The annual Institute of International Education's Open Doors report, based on fall 2021 enrollment, highlights CU Boulder’s continued presence as a top university host of international students, coming in at No. 67, up two spots from last year, and remaining the top hosting institution in Colorado. The report was released Nov. 14.
“We are thrilled our enrollment numbers are on the rise,” said Diana Salazar, director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS). “Our international students are an integral part of our community, and we are grateful for the opportunity to celebrate and support them as they pursue their educational dreams here in Boulder.”
Open Doors also highlighted CU’s continued performance in 2020–21 as a top sender for study abroad, despite a drop in participation due to COVID-19. CU Boulder ranked 16th overall in sending students abroad and 8th overall in semester-length duration for doctoral universities.
Education Abroad Director Sylvie Burnet-Jones said she is rejoicing in study abroad enrollment returning to pre-COVID numbers in 2022–23. “We are so excited to see that students are eager and able again to explore the world and gain global perspectives as part of their CU education.”
