Provost Russell Moore today announced that the Center for Inclusion and Social Change (CISC), currently housed in the Office of Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement (ODECE), will move to the Division of Student Affairs beginning Jan. 1, 2023.

“This move will place the CISC team into closer partnership with the co-curricular experts and partners in Student Affairs, a move that will magnify the impact of CISC’s campuswide efforts,” said Moore.

Moore said CISC’s offices—Education and Social change; First-Generation Programs and Enrichment; Intercultural Engagement; and the Pride Office—along with CISC’s signature events, will benefit from the ability “to co-plan with Student Affairs experts in similar areas and provide more holistic student support.”

“The CISC team members will continue in their excellent work to provide high-impact, transformational community-building and educational programs to the CU Boulder community, said Austin “J.B.” Banks, acting vice chancellor for student affairs. “This closer alignment of CISC within Student Affairs will benefit our student body and our efforts at improving the student experience at CU Boulder.”

Chris Pacheco, acting vice provost and associate vice chancellor for diversity, equity and inclusion, who heads ODECE, also stated his support for the move.

“ODECE is thankful to have had CISC as part of our team during the past several years, and we recognize the value of CISC returning to Student Affairs. ODECE will continue to support our CISC colleagues by providing strategic partnership that benefits our communities and the campus at large.”
